Starting a new school year with our language assistant
This year we are lucky to have a language assistant to help our students with their oral understanding and producing skills. Her name is Zu and she comes from The Philippines.
She has been in Valdepeñas since the beginning of October and is going to stay with us until the end of May. Every week she attends lessons at different levels to help not only the English teachers, but also the ones that teach their subject in English, like Geography and History, Biology or Art.
Having a person from such a far away country is an excellent opportunity for students to improve their English competence and to get to know the filipino culture.
In her lessons, she has already explained to them different aspects of the filipino culture, such as important landmarks of the country, their different languages, traditional food, or celebrations like the Day of the Dead.
She has also taken part in other activities that we have done in high school, like Halloween. That day several teachers wore costumes related to All Saints' Day or Halloween, and Zu also joined in this idea. Both teachers and students could enjoy learning on a different way during the lessons that day.
We would like to thank you, Zu, for your help during the lessons and we wish you a fantastic school year in Spain. Good luck!
